A virtual meeting was held at the Pontifical Lateran University on the 15th of October 2020, entitled “Global Compact on Education. Together to look beyond" and promoted by the Congregation for Catholic Education.
On 14 May, there should have been the world event of the Global Compact on Education, so desired by Pope Francis, to increase awareness of the responsibility we all have vis-à-vis education, so as to foster a spirit of encounter among the different generations, religions and cultures, as well as between humanity and the environment.
The pandemic, which forced the event to be canceled, made the appeal of the Holy Father even more stringent: we need to unite efforts for the common home, so that education is a creator of brotherhood, peace and justice. For this reason, a virtual meeting was held on the 15th of October 2020, open to all and live on the Vatican Media Youtube channel, during which a video message from Pope Francis was broadcast, together with international testimonies and experiences, to look further with creativity.
